Morning

I love morning. I love the quiet. I love that morning means a new day has started.
Morning provides opportunity to begin fresh & new... and a chance to trust that God has the whole day lined out for me and my family... morning...love it!

Caught these as I drove to school today -
beautiful, peaceful, fresh... God at work!

What does morning mean for you?

Animal Farm

Our last evening before the start of another school year for me... picture it...

I'm running around trying to check off my "to-do" list, making sure Ian's coffee is ready to go in the morning, packing Mason's bag for daycare, sorting through the stack of mail/junk on the counter, washing dishes... the list goes on ... but I'll let you imagine...

and I stop to watch this:

Of course the cow "moo" and the horse "neigh" are Mason's favorites! Daddy's too!!

Freezer

Who needs
"keep it simple suppers"
or
"dinner's ready!"
?????

All I had to do was put my powerstrip (which the freezer is plugged into) in a place where Mason can turn it on and off... and of course he couldn't resist...and off the freeze went. Wish I had noticed the day it happened instead of 3 days later. The food wasn't ruined, but thawed....and tada...

Mom & I worked all afternoon making 5 batches of freezer jam, 3 pans of enchiladas, and 3 containers of taco meat... the list goes on and on... my freezer is now full of prepared food!

A blessing in disguise for sure - what started out as a disaster turned into a great way to start my school year!

Love you mom - thanks for all of your help!!

{highlights of summer}

As I sit here at my computer and skim through the hundreds of pictures I took this summer, I can’t help but smile. I love my new camera – so thankful to have had it this summer! I wonder what I did without it? There is no going back now – only many more “somethings” to capture… Here are some of the highlights of summer… no specific order… just life rolling by!

Dessert

Stitches are out - not a flinch, not a tear, not a sound...
he did great!

Enjoying camping with Papa & Grammy
while Mommy gets ready for school to start...
and eating his favorite thing...
DESSERT!
(a boy after his dad's heart)

Hands

Spent some time Sunday evening fishing at the pond… Mason wasn’t quite sure what to think of the fish, but he loved playing in the water – splashing & throwing rocks!
Didn’t seem to keep the fish away either – I think Ian caught one on every cast!

These hands –
so large and strong…

Rope calves,
Fix machinery,
Toss horseshoes,
Cast a pole,
Tie a shoe,
Hold a hand,
Move pipe,
Tickle feet,
Grasp a coffee mug (tightly),
Steer a tractor,
Turn a page,
Sign a name,
Guide our family!

I can’t help but wonder…

what will become of these hands?

So Much to Blog

Hey there everyone!
Life is good - school starts in 1 week - busy, busy, busy!
Check out the posts below to see what's been going on...

Smores

Eventful, Fun, Carefree… Memories made for sure!

Mason had a wonderful week with Grammy & Papa – going to the park, eating ice cream at the DQ, winning the “YMCA” dance competition at a baseball game, playing at the “boat” park and learning a new word – DUCK, falling asleep each night on the porch watching amazing sunsets and owls flying through the trees, and making SMORES!

Don’t think life gets much better than this!

Stitch

Blood, blood & more blood – need I say more?!

Had a “quick” 2+ hour visit to the local ER Monday night… not the best experience… not the worst… just glad that our boy is on the mend and doesn’t seem to be traumatized by the situation in the least.

Climbing on the parked Gator is one of Mason’s favorite (not so safe) things to do, and while it may seem harmless, it somehow created total havoc in our lives for a few hours.

6:30 Mason fell of the gator – cutting his cheek in a small X pattern (BLOOD everywhere)

6:31 I grab two clean towels and the hose, spraying everything (myself included) down to see where exactly all the BLOOD is coming from

6:35 Ian is working in the field right next to our house (what is the chance of that?!) and comes home to say “yep – he needs stitches!”

7:10 We arrive at the hospital with a somewhat dazed, bloody boy.

7:23 Mason gets a wrist band and shows EVERYONE in the waiting room… even the 2 month old baby sitting near us. I’m convinced the bracelet had some “turbo power juice” because he seemed to forget all about his cut face and bloody mouth and played with his tractors and trucks like nothing had ever happened.

7:45 We are seen by the nurse who sees that Mason has not been slowed down by the injury – loved her and her great attitude with Mason

8:00 Mason is held down and given a topical numbing agent that is taped to his face… I’m sure you can imagine how well that went… and how many times the tape had to be replaced.

8:15 We walk the halls, waiting for the numbing to set in… Mason is getting very tired!

8:35 Mason is wrapped in a papoose type blanket and held down by Ian and 2 nurses… eyes covered and scared to death.

8:50 Our screaming boy is unwrapped and as good as new with 3 big stitches!

9:00 We head home – exhausted, hungry and happy to have had a good experience at the local ER! Mason was sound asleep before he even got out of town.

9:40 Dinner was hot and ready for us – blessed to have Mimzy so close… thanks so much – it was delicious!

We’re sure this is the first of many trips to the ER… knowing that our son is a true farm boy with little, if any fear, and a love for machinery!
